6-Seater Golf Cart Buying Guide: Seats, Range, Cargo and Road Use
Specifications, pricing, programs and road-use rules can change. Confirm current product details with EA Carts and check state and local requirements before purchasing or driving on public roads.
A 6-seater golf cart makes sense when you regularly carry more than four people, but the right choice depends on more than the seat count. Compare the seating layout, occupied range, braking, passenger restraints, cargo conversion, dimensions, charging and the exact equipment required where you plan to drive.
This guide uses published facts and points out what still needs to be confirmed. For EA Carts, the current six-seat model is the EA6R+ 72V. Its model page is the source of record for current price, equipment, dimensions and availability.
What does six seats mean on a golf cart?
Six-seat carts do not all use the same layout. A common arrangement is two front seats, a middle row and a rear-facing third row. Before buying, confirm how many seats face forward, whether the rear row has seat belts, how passengers enter each row and whether the roof covers everyone. Photos should show the actual seating configuration rather than a different trim.
The EA6R+ publishes six seats in three rows. Its rear seat folds flat into a cargo bed with a built-in cooler, so the same space can carry people or gear. If four forward-facing seats matter more than maximum capacity, compare the EA4F+ four-forward model instead.
Seven checks before buying a 6-seater golf cart
- Seat layout: Confirm the direction of every row and whether the rear seat converts to cargo space.
- Safety equipment: Look for passenger restraints at every seating position, mirrors, a horn, lighting and braking details.
- Range with real use: Published range is an estimate. Passenger load, hills, temperature, tire pressure, speed and accessories can reduce it.
- Dimensions: Measure the garage, trailer, gate and parking space. A six-seater is longer than a two- or four-seat cart.
- Charging: Confirm the battery voltage, charger, outlet requirements and estimated charge time.
- Road-use status: A golf cart is not automatically legal on public roads. Verify the vehicle, registration and local operating rules before driving.
- Written total price: Compare the cart, tax, delivery and optional equipment in one estimate.
How much range should a 6-seater have?
Start with your longest normal round trip, then leave a margin for passengers, terrain and weather. Do not treat an unoccupied ideal-condition number as a promise for every trip. The EA6R+ currently publishes about 40 to 45 miles per charge with a 72V 150Ah lithium-ion battery, subject to the range conditions listed on its model page.
If speed is part of your comparison, avoid modifying a cart before checking braking, steering, tires, warranty and legal consequences. The golf cart speed and safety guide explains those tradeoffs.
Can a 6-seater golf cart be street legal?
Six seats alone do not decide road legality. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 500 defines equipment for low-speed vehicles, while states and local governments control registration and where an LSV may operate. Review the current federal LSV standard, then check the state and municipality where the cart will be driven.
EA describes the EA6R+ as LSV-ready and publishes a 25 mph top speed, seat belts on every seat, mirrors, horn, backup camera, LED lighting and turn signals. LSV-ready is not a promise that a cart is registered or legal on every road. Confirm the final configuration and local requirements.
Passenger space or cargo space?
Think about the trip after people get in. Six occupied seats may leave little room for groceries, coolers, sports equipment or a golf bag. A convertible rear seat helps when the cart is carrying fewer passengers, but it does not create passenger and cargo capacity at the same time. Ask for a photo of the cargo position and check the load limits in the current documentation.
What should the written estimate show?
- Exact model and model year
- Seating configuration and included passenger restraints
- Battery, charger and published range conditions
- Standard equipment and optional accessories
- Cart price, tax and delivery
- Build or availability timing
- Warranty terms and service process
- Any road-use equipment included in the final configuration
For EA Carts, the EA6R+ model page publishes the current starting facts, and the written estimate controls the final configuration, price, tax and delivery.
6-seater golf cart FAQ
Is a 6-seater much longer than a four-seater?
Usually, but dimensions vary by model and layout. The EA6R+ currently publishes dimensions of 144 inches long, 51 inches wide and 81 inches high. Measure every doorway, trailer and storage space against the model you are actually buying.
Do all six seats need seat belts?
For the EA6R+, seat belts on every seat are listed as standard. Requirements for other carts and uses vary. Confirm restraints for all six positions in the exact configuration and follow applicable rules.
Can the rear seat carry cargo?
On the EA6R+, the rear seat folds flat into a cargo bed with a built-in cooler. Do not carry a passenger on a seat while it is configured as a cargo deck.
What is the current EA6R+ price?
The live EA6R+ page publishes the current cart price and notes that tax and delivery are additional. Use that page rather than an older article or search snippet because pricing can change.
